Through sophisticated climate modeling that covers the last 8,000 years, experts discovered that both long-term orbital shifts and short-term fluctuations in Atlantic climate exacerbated drought conditions in the Eastern Mediterranean region. These results underscore the potential for natural climate variations to heighten drought risks in the context of ongoing global warming affecting sensitive areas.
