El Nino is strengthening across the Pacific Ocean at an alarming rate according to climate scientists. The climate pattern is still months away from peaking and its impact on global weather is forecast to intensify through the back half of this year raising the prospect of Australia’s hottest spring on record and a heightened risk of drought and fires.
