Danielle recounts her experience, stating, "Every time I depart, she leaps up searching for me. Consider the plight of being confined in a kennel for months with only us volunteers and kennel staff as companions. Due to COVID-19, our shelter has restricted visitors to prevent the virus from affecting the dogs. The sorrow I feel witnessing these wonderful dogs' loneliness is profound. You cannot truly grasp the depth of sadness until you look into a shelter dog's eyes as you leave."
