Musk Ox : The ancient Arctic survivor wrapped in a thick coat of resilience

2026-08-04 2 Dailymotion

A Musk Ox is a powerful Arctic mammal that has survived since the Ice Age, making it one of the oldest large mammals still roaming the Earth. Found across the Arctic tundra of Canada, Greenland, Alaska, and parts of Scandinavia, musk oxen are perfectly adapted to some of the coldest environments on the planet.

Their long, shaggy outer coat and incredibly soft underwool, called qiviut, provide exceptional insulation against freezing temperatures and strong Arctic winds. Musk oxen are herbivores that feed on grasses, mosses, sedges, and shrubs. When threatened, they form a tight defensive circle with their horns facing outward to protect their calves from predators such as wolves.

With their Ice Age heritage, remarkable cold-weather adaptations, and strong herd behavior, musk oxen are among the most extraordinary mammals of the Arctic wilderness. 🦬❄️🏔️✨
