While playing football in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Thomas Winter and his friends discover the trapped mammal and attempt to extract it with their hands, ultimately leading them to seek assistance from the RSPCA, a renowned animal rescue charity. Thomas shared, 'We decided to call the RSPCA, hoping they could help us get it out, and that’s exactly what they did. We have no idea how long the hedgehog had been in there. It must've been in so much pain.' Upon rescue, it was evident the hedgehog had sustained injuries, but thankfully, it was still alive, bringing relief and joy to the young rescuers.
