I turned 13 basic shapes into sound using data sonification — converting each shape's coordinate path directly into pitch and frequency.
This video traces 13 different shapes — moon, egg, disc, raindrop, shark, boomerang, stairs, guitar, squirrel, bicycle, corn, planetary gear, and dragon — and converts each one into a unique audio waveform in real time. Simple shapes come first, then the sequence builds toward more detailed, complex shapes, ending on the dragon, which produces the most intricate waveform of the video.
This is part of an ongoing shape-to-sound series using custom coordinate-tracing and sonification code to turn geometry into audio.
