Tenby RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was launched at 5.15pm on Tuesday, August 4, after the coastguard received a call from a member of the public at Wiseman’s Bridge, reporting that two paddleboarders appeared to be in difficulty roughly a mile offshore.
The volunteer lifeboat crew quickly located the casualties, who were brought aboard, along with their boards and checked over to make sure they didn’t need medical assistance.
After requesting a lift back to Swallowtree, they confirmed they had left there earlier in the afternoon, but were blown towards Wiseman’s Bridge by the strong offshore breeze and were unable to make headway against the wind to return.
Once back at Swallowtree, the Y-boat was launched to take the casualties and their boards ashore.
