Tasmanian aboriginal people have told a federal inquiry racial abuse is escalating online and, in the community, and racism is normalised and systemic in the state. The parliamentary inquiry examining racism, hate and violence directed at aboriginal, and Torres strait islander people met in Hobart today and heard evidence of the tension between Tasmania’s aboriginal organisations over identity.
