Love at first flash? New York singles try their luck at matchmaking photo booth
Nearly 4,000 people in New York City have tried the Missed Connections Photo Booth, an analog matchmaking experiment that aims to pair participants with compatible strangers. Participants receive only their match’s name and photo. The photo booth is a collaboration among matchmaking startup Matchbox, social media account Meet Cutes NYC and photo booth vendor Faceplace. Participants visiting the booth must scan a QR code to access a 26-question questionnaire, pay $10 and take a snapshot. Their photo is then printed alongside that of their compatible match. Matchbox is a dating and matchmaking service that organizes events across the United States to bring together people with similar interests.
