Russian Missile Strike Kills at Least 15-17 in Kyiv Region
Russia attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles and drones overnight, killing at least 17 people and injuring at least 44, in one of the deadliest strikes across Kyiv this year. The bombardment started after midnight on Wednesday and hit residential buildings, a railway station and warehouses across the capital and nearby areas. Ukraine's air force said Russia launched 24 ballistic missiles, four anti-ship missiles and 115 drones, of which air defence intercepted 98. The air force did not mention intercepting any of the ballistic missiles. The attack targeted warehouse and logistics facilities, including a brewery, hardware store warehouses and a railway station. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the main targets were warehouses belonging to civilian enterprises. He said Patriot interceptors has saved lives and urged allies to provide anti-ballistic systems, warning that delays lead to horrific casualties and destruction. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said there were fears people is trapped under rubble. Russia's Ministry of Defense said it used ground-based precision-guided weapons and long-range strike drones against transport, logistics and distribution centers it claimed were tied to weapons storage and drone production.
