Coût des permis d’alcool : une hausse qui fait mal aux restaurateurs

Major price hike on alcohol sales permits! Restaurateurs in New Brunswick are facing a significant increase, with annual permit costs jumping from $350 to $500. This 43% surge adds to the already heavy financial burden on businesses operating on tight margins.

This new fee comes at a difficult time for the hospitality industry, which is still reeling from the pandemic and grappling with rising costs for everything from food supplies to employee wages. Many businesses are already struggling to stay afloat.

The province defends the increase, stating it's the first adjustment in many years and is expected to generate $45 million annually. However, the added expense could force restaurants to raise their prices, inevitably impacting consumers.

This isn't the only fee increase; expect to see higher costs for electrical and plumbing inspections, vehicle registrations, and driver's licenses. The province is implementing a range of fee adjustments to boost revenue.
