Tensions between India and China over Arunachal Pradesh are once again in the spotlight. India has officially named 27 locations and four strategic passes in Arunachal Pradesh and incorporated them into its official political map. These include key locations such as Thag La, Longju, Dzo La, Riza La, and Pukur La. The move is being seen as a strong response to China’s repeated claims over Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, a video went viral on social media, claiming that Chinese troops had entered 60 kilometers inside Arunachal Pradesh. However, according to a PIB fact-check, the video is not from Arunachal Pradesh but is old footage from the India-Bangladesh border. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has also dismissed the claims of Chinese intrusion. The real issue, therefore, goes beyond border security and highlights the growing diplomatic and strategic confrontation between India and China.
