Kosovo’s parliament descended into chaos on Saturday after opposition MP Time Kadrijaj threw several eggs toward acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti during a heated plenary session.
The confrontation erupted as lawmakers debated the formation of a new government following Kosovo’s June snap election. Kadrijaj, an MP from the Alliance party, reportedly shouted “Shame” before throwing at least four eggs in Kurti’s direction. Members of Kurti’s Vetevendosje party and police officers quickly stepped in to stop the incident from escalating.
The disruption came after Kurti told parliament that he needed additional time to negotiate with other political parties before putting forward a candidate for speaker.
Kurti’s Vetevendosje party won the election but fell short of securing enough seats to govern alone. Talks with rival parties remain essential, leaving Kosovo facing continued political uncertainty.
The dramatic incident highlights the growing tensions surrounding efforts to break the country’s parliamentary deadlock and form a new government.
