Watch as a beach pole vault attempt ends in horror after an athlete suffers a devastating crash that leaves him with a broken neck.
The shocking footage, filmed by Elijah Bowden on Grand Haven Beach in Michigan, USA, shows the pole vaulter preparing for another attempt after an unsuccessful first jump. He sprints towards the bar before launching into the air, but loses control during the vault and begins falling awkwardly.
Unable to recover, he lands heavily on the safety mat, striking his neck in the brutal impact. Elijah later revealed the crash left him with a broken neck, sharing the footage as part of his recovery journey.
