A desperate race against time is underway in western Colombia after a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake killed at least 132 people and left more than 2,700 reported missing. Rescue teams, soldiers, firefighters, volunteers and relatives are digging through collapsed buildings in Cali, Pereira and other hard-hit areas, searching for survivors trapped beneath the rubble. Around 1,600 buildings have been damaged or destroyed, while rescuers have already pulled several people alive from collapsed structures. The remote Choco region faces additional challenges, with some areas accessible only by boat or plane. With dozens of aftershocks continuing to shake the region, rescuers are working against time as families wait desperately for news of their loved ones.
