Lindsay Clancy defense wants TikToker to expose hospital

A new dispute emerged in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial after her defense sought to add former McLean Hospital clinical social worker Emily Thorndike as a witness.

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued that Thorndike could challenge what he described as a misleading portrayal of McLean’s treatment options and staffing.

Reddington said prosecutors had presented McLean as a “five-star hospital” where staff were constantly trying to treat Clancy, while claiming that picture was inaccurate. He also said Thorndike posted a TikTok criticizing “the lies and the misrepresentations from that witness stand about McLean Hospital.”

Prosecutors opposed the request, noting Thorndike left the facility about a year before Clancy’s treatment and had no firsthand knowledge of her care.

Judge William Sullivan questioned whether the TikToker should testify about the hospital’s overall quality, bluntly saying, “This is not Tripadvisor.”

However, Sullivan called questions about staffing and available treatment programs a “closer call” and has not yet ruled on the request.

During testimony, psychiatric nurse practitioner Rebecca Jollotta said she interpreted Clancy’s messages about hopelessness and intrusive thoughts as depression rather than suicidal ideation.

The defense is seeking to challenge the prosecution’s portrayal of Clancy’s psychiatric treatment and the care she received before the killings.
