Check out this dramatic wildlife encounter as a sambar deer makes a quick escape from a pack of wild dogs by taking to the water.
Jibin James from Kerala , India captured the remarkable moment as the deer is chased across a grassy shoreline by a group of wild dogs, also known as dholes.
With the pack closing in, the deer suddenly makes a desperate move and leaps into a deep lake, swimming away from the pursuing animals.
The wild dogs follow the deer to the water's edge but stop short of entering the deep water, leaving the deer safely out of reach as it continues swimming away.
The clever escape left viewers impressed by the deer's quick thinking.
One viewer wrote: “Intelligent move by deer. The wild dogs generally won't attack in deep water.”
