Mumbai, Maharashtra:In an exclusive interview with IANS, film critic and trade analyst Girish Wankhede shared the progress report for the first six months of 2026. He revealed that the industry did a business of ₹6400 crores, with films like Dhurandhar, The Revenge, Border 2 and Bhoot Bangla being the major contributors to this success. He also spoke about the box office collections of Hollywood films such as The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. According to him, Hollywood films are connecting more with audiences compared to Hindi films. Girish further shared his opinion on upcoming films including Awarapan 2, Batwara 1947, Toxic, Ramayana and King. He also discussed ticket pricing, stating that ticket rates in the South are more controlled compared to cinemas in the North, where he feels the prices are not reasonable.
