Fresh lava fountains as Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupts
Fresh lava fountains spewed from Hawaii's Kilauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes. The volcano has been very active since 1983 and erupts relatively regularly. "Episode 53 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at 3:45 pm HST August 12 and ended at 1:23 am HST on August 13, 2026, after 9.6 hours of fountaining," according to the US Geological Survey.
