Eisho-ji is the only nunnery in Kamakura and was founded by Lady Okachi, a concubine of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. The temple stands on the site of a mansion once owned by her ancestor, Ota Dokan.
