A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Flores, Indonesia, early Saturday, triggering panic, building collapses and landslides. Several aftershocks followed the main quake.
Authorities initially issued a tsunami warning for several coastal areas and urged residents to move away from beaches and riverbanks. The warning was later lifted after monitoring showed no significant sea-level changes. AP reports that at least 38 people had died and more than a dozen were injured as rescue operations continued.
