A massive fire broke out at the ‘Shika Inn’ hotel on Mirza Ghalib Street in Kolkata early Wednesday morning, killing 9 people, including 2 women and a child. The fire reportedly started around 2 a.m. when most of the guests were asleep. Thick smoke and raging flames triggered panic inside the hotel. Four fire engines and police teams quickly reached the spot and launched a rescue operation, safely evacuating around 60 to 80 people. During the rescue, 9 people were found unconscious inside the hotel. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead. According to preliminary information, the victims were Bangladeshi nationals who had come to Kolkata for medical treatment. The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, and forensic teams are investigating the incident.
पश्चिम बंगाल की राजधानी कोलकाता में बुधवार तड़के मिर्जा गालिब स्ट्रीट स्थित ‘शिका इन’ होटल में भीषण आग लगने से 9 लोगों की मौत हो गई। मृतकों में 2 महिलाएं और एक बच्चा शामिल हैं। बताया जा रहा है कि आग करीब रात 2 बजे लगी, उस समय होटल में ज्यादातर लोग सो रहे थे। धुएं और लपटों के कारण अफरा-तफरी मच गई। दमकल की चार गाड़ियों और पुलिस टीम ने मौके पर पहुंचकर राहत-बचाव अभियान चलाया और करीब 60 से 80 लोगों को सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला। रेस्क्यू के दौरान 9 लोग बेहोशी की हालत में मिले, जिन्हें अस्पताल ले जाने पर डॉक्टरों ने मृत घोषित कर दिया। शुरुआती जानकारी के मुताबिक मृतक बांग्लादेशी नागरिक थे, जो इलाज के लिए कोलकाता आए थे। आग लगने की वजह अभी स्पष्ट नहीं है। फॉरेंसिक टीम जांच कर रही है, जबकि पुलिस ने होटल के दो कर्मचारियों को हिरासत में लिया है। घटना के बाद होटल की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और लाइसेंस को लेकर भी गंभीर सवाल उठ रहे हैं।
