Hollywood legend Shirley MacLaine has made a rare video appearance at age 92, revisiting one of her most memorable films with a playful sense of humor.
The Oscar-winning actress appeared in a video for Southampton Playhouse in Long Island ahead of its August 25 screening of the 1969 musical Sweet Charity, in which she played the lead role.
MacLaine began by saying, “Wish I could be with you.” She then added, “I would like to see ‘Sweet Charity’ again. And while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked.”
The actress then jokingly acknowledged the movie’s disappointing box-office performance, saying, “And between you and me, it didn’t do very well, so I hope you guys like it.” She ended her message with, “Much love,” before blowing a kiss to viewers.
Sweet Charity, directed by legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, reportedly earned around $4 million domestically against a $20 million budget.
MacLaine remains an iconic figure in Hollywood, with an Oscar-winning career spanning decades. Looking back on life, she has also spoken openly about death, saying, “I’m kind of interested in going there. I’m looking forward to being part of the heaven experience. I really am.”
