Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed sugar availability in the state and issued strict directives against black marketing, hoarding, and overpricing. The UP government confirmed that 179 lakh quintals of sugar stock is currently available across private, cooperative, and government sugar mills. To curb illegal stocking, a 30-day stock holding limit has been enforced, and dealers holding more than 400 tons of sugar will face strict legal action, including FIRs and measures under ESMA. Furthermore, the state government announced the release of sugarcane payments amounting to 3,217 crore rupees to 48 lakh farmers.
