Edit 2b (lower volume than 2a & colorized) for headphones, June 2017/June 2025. Source of the edit is "Yesterday's Papers" studio take II, from the bootleg "Black Box" cd no. 2 (by Yellow Dog)(YD 047). To enjoy the guitar part a bit more I repeated the rhythm guitar 'solo' several times (changed it from one into four solo's).

I also added an edit of the 'solo' for the ones who really can't get enough of it... No sounds were added, it's the Stones only. (I do however admit that some sounds were harmed.)(Along with annoying flies that surrounded me during the edit.)(Flies that are a bother to many other Europeans too, all because of the European Union laws, forbidding growers to treat plant soil with poison to kill those flies!) Even more annoying is the European computer's cookies law; harmless files now have turned into daily pests... but that's another story.

Recorded August 3-11, 1966, the final take was released on the album "Between The Buttons" in February of 1967.
Vibraphone, backing vocals: Brian Jones. Guitar, backing vocals: Keith Richards. Bass, backing vocals: Bill Wyman. Drums: Charlie Watts. Harpsichord: Jack Nitzsche. Vocals, tambourine: Mick Jagger

"Yesterday’s Papers" was written and composed exclusively by Mick Jagger. Once again, the singer levels a relentless indictment against women, or rather against one woman in particular. The girl he is comparing to yesterday’s papers could well be ex-girlfriend Chrissie Shrimpton. Yesterday’s papers are such bad news/Same thing applies to me and you: the words may possess the virtue of clarity, but they are undeniably cruel. Marianne Faithfull would recognize the lyrics as a "horrible public humiliation" (Sheila Whiteley "Sexing the Groove: Popular Music and Gender").

YESTERDAY'S PAPERS
(Mick Jagger)

who wants yesterdays papers
who wants yesterdays girl
who wants yesterdays papers
nobody in the world

after this time I finally learned
after the pain and hurt
after all this what have I achieved
I've realized it's time to leave

cause who wants yesterdays papers
who wants yesterdays girl
who wants yesterdays papers
nobody in the world

I'm living a life of constant change
every day means the turn of a page
yesterdays papers are such bad news
same thing applies to me and you

who wants yesterdays papers
who wants yesterdays girl
who wants yesterdays papers
nobody in the world

seems very hard to have just one girl
when there's a million in the world
all of these people just can't wait
to fall right into their big mistake

who wants yesterdays papers
who wants yesterdays girl
who wants yesterdays papers
nobody in the world
