Onion prices are rising sharply across India, raising concerns ahead of the festive season. The average retail price of onions has reached around ₹42 per kg, up nearly 45% from last year. In Delhi, prices have touched around ₹65 per kg, while Chennai is seeing prices near ₹58 per kg. The pressure is also visible in wholesale markets. In Nashik, one of India’s major onion trading hubs, prices have surged around 76% in just one month, crossing ₹3,600 per quintal.
