They had survived the Eastern Front. Three years of fighting the Soviet Union had turned them into the most experienced soldiers on earth. They could read a battlefield by sound alone. They knew when to move, when to dig, when to strike. Their instincts had kept them alive through everything the Red Army could throw at them.
Then they arrived in France — and none of it worked.
In the summer of 1944, German veterans began reporting something they couldn't explain. Their tactics failed. Their instincts betrayed them. Skills that had saved their lives a thousand times were now getting them killed. The Americans weren't fighting the same war.
