Hunting Trips That Turned Into Nightmares
In January 2013, in the Oise department of northern France, a group of hunters were out on a Sunday morning doing what French hunters do: tracking wild boar through the countryside. One of the hunters spotted a boar, raised his rifle, and fired.
The bullet hit the animal. But instead of penetrating, the bullet ricocheted off the boar’s thick hide or bone, deflected at an angle, and kept going. And going. And going. It traveled over a mile (about 2 kilometers). Through the air, across fields, over a road, and straight into the windshield of a passing car. The driver was killed instantly.
