A man was arrested today after a woman was seriously injured in an attack in which she reportedly had her throat slashed.
The 37 year-old man was detained by police in Newcastle upon Tyne after the incident at a house in the village of Slamannan in Stirlingshire.
Police launched a major search after the 32 year-old woman was left with "serious" injuries and was airlifted to the Southern General Hospital for treatment.
The attack happened at around 10am today in the village of Slamannan.
A Central Scotland police spokesman said: "Inquiries are currently being carried out following an incident this morning at an address in Slamannan.
"A 32-year-old woman suffered serious injuries during the incident and was airlifted to hospital. Inquiries are ongoing."
The man is expected to appear in court on Monday.
