France's parliament has given the final backing to a bill to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62.
The National Assembly approved the final text of the bill in a 336-233 vote, clearing its final hurdle in parliament.
The reform has sparked two weeks of strikes and street protests across the country but they are now losing momentum.
Conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy is not expected to sign the bill for several weeks.
The strikes are still set to continue, unions are planning street demonstrations on Thursday which are expected to cause problems for air travellers.
