Thai authorities race against time to block floodwaters swamping the central province of Pathum Thani and reaching Bangkok on Friday.
Excess water from the north is expected toa rrive in the Bangkok area over the weekend, as high estuary tides hamper the river's flow into the sea.
This may also coincide with storms and heavy rain.
