Melissa interviews Alan V. about his personal journey with disability and special education: Alan grew up in Maryland and was diagnosed “hyperactive” in 4th grade. He was medicated for 6 years until he stopped it. After the medication was out of his system, Tourettes Syndrome manifested itself but he didn’t know what it was until he was in his mid 20′s and read about it in Redbook. He is a father of three children and step-father to four more children. Alan served on the Groton-Dunstable Regional School Committee and has served as the PAC Co-Chair for the past two years in his current town.
