Crowds gathered near the Syrian embassy in the Jordanian capital Amman mark the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.
As security forces stand guard nearby, Muslims perform traditional prayers on the first day of the feast of sacrifice.
But they're also here to put pressure on the iron-fisted regime of Bashar al-Assad.
They chant anti-Assad slogans - and call for freedom for the Syrian people.
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) UNIDENTIFIED SYRIAN NATIONAL, SAYING:
"What a state we are in at this time of Eid. This year's Eid comes amid destruction, killing and displacement. We are here near the Syrian embassy to say this criminal regime has lost legitimacy, and it must go."
Syria agreed last week to an Arab League-proposed deal to withdraw the army from cities, free political prisoners and open dialogue with the opposition.
But on Saturday activists said that tank fire killed at least 13 civilians and wounded dozens more in the city of Homs, casting doubt over whether the regime is sincere about ending the violence.
