He was a staple on one of the most recognized news programs in America... Andy Rooney, a "60 Minutes" news anchor and long time journalist has passed away.
For the last 33 years, Rooney closed the Sunday night news show with a short rant on anything from breakfast cereals to geopolitics.
He has been described as cantankerous, crabby and gruff and often told his viewers not to approach him if they saw him in public.
Although he won numerous awards for his reporting, he preferred to think of himself simply as a writer who appears on TV.
According to CBS, Rooney died of complications following a minor surgery. He was 92 years old.
