Balachandra Prabhu is a dedicated disciple of "Kirana Gharana".He had his initiation into music from his father Shri M Devadas Prabhu. He fine tuned his performing skills under the tutelage of Pandit Balachandra Nakod and later under Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi. Later he was blessed with a great opportunity to undergo training under the able guidance of "Late Pandit Shreepathi Padigar" of Hubli, who was a senior disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
