Thai residents are set to got o the polls on December 23rd. One of the biggest political parties vying for power include former followers of Thaksin Shinawatra's, the former prime minister, Thai Rak Thai Party.
And as Al Jazeera's Selina Downes reports, the military government will find it hard, if not impossible, to curb Thaksins influence.
