While hundreds of millions of people in rural India struggle to survive on a few rupees, the urban wealthy are investing in art.

Auction houses such as Sotheby's and Christies are planning to set up bases in India to cater for the increase in demand.

Galleries are full of work by young artists, and both serious and new collectors are eager to pay, as Al Jazeera's Prerna Suri has been seeing in the capital, New Delhi.
