Former president of the Philippines Gloria Arroyo has been arrested while seeking treatment in a Manila hospital.
She was formally charged with election fraud on Friday, and if found guilty could face a life sentence.
Arroyo says the charges, which she calls politically motivated, are keeping her from seeking treatment abroad for a rare bone disease.
