Myanmar's pro democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi told reporters Friday that the road to democracy will be neither smooth nor short.

"We are certainly not at the end of the road, by no means, we are just starting out. And this road is not going to be a straightforward smooth one, there will be many twists and turns and there will be obstacles, and we will have to negotiate these with a spirit of reconciliation."

Later Suu Kyi attended a dinner with the country's prime minister and king and queen at a castle in Oslo.

Suu Kyi is on her first trip to the West after 15 years of house arrest in Myanmar.
