Vardeldur evokes a sensation of overwhelming melancholy, beautiful nostalgia and hopeful desolation; emotions which, for me, capture the essence of my personal response to the Sigur Ros repertoire. This video is nothing more than a humble tribute to the music of Sigur Ros.
My intention with this video is to extrapolate these emotions in the story of a Berlin businessman wandering around deserted pockets of his city. Our protagonist seems lost, in a state of shock. His aimless wandering in the opening scenes inspires a sense of temporal and spatial disorientation in the audience. It is not until the subject sits, rests, and reflects on a city bench that we begin to connect his present state with his past experience, the burning and looting of his place of work, the sudden realisation of the futility and fragility of his existence.
