Wealthy businessman Horacio Cartes of the centre-right Colorado Party appears to have won Paraguay's presidential election.
With a majority of votes counted his rival Efrain Alegre has already conceded defeat. A win for Cartes bucks the trend in South America where in the main leftist parties have made steady gains.
