This morning thou was't horse thrown
Alone and hurt but ye weren't dead
Tho thou had a bursted backbone
On these rocks thy blood thee bled
So halted ye were sunbaked
A searing death ye could not cheat
When I found thee, thou was't skin-flaked
Horse abandoned, bone and meat
Staking stones upon ye now
Fore the buzzards pick ye clean
I hope thou'd do the same for me
Had I died in this ravine
Only God know who thou are't
Or how here ye came to be
Just a stranger from afar
Must say better thee than me
