Caught my neighbors eye
We met at the fence all handshakes and smiles
Neither of us have time for nonsense
But we stood there and jawed for a while
Weather is nice and the kids are in school
The postman is late with the mail
Your Corvette sounds good, your Chevelle is cool
Yeah, dad's getting older and frail
Well I hear the weeds are calling my name
Those darn things won't pick themselves
A lawn like yours will put me to shame
At least you still have your health
And so it goes on for a minute or two
The gears of genteelness need grease
While the neighborhood now is a cultural stew
Small talk among men keeps the peace
