Sometimes I feel
I’m in the vortex of a tornado.
The world is madly swirling,
Spinning while I stand,
Inert, unable to see,
Or feel the crazy energy,
So out of control.
But I am calm, fixed
Immobile and numb.
One step, and I’ll be thrown
Into that void
Of surging lunacy.
I must hold myself very still
Unheeded and invisible
My feet are tingling,
Anxious to veer
Into the rushing sound of wind.
Can I dance that nimbly?
Or will it hurl me
Into oblivion?
