José Feliciano – Sweet Soul Music 1976
This is a great Soul/R&B album, with some interesting arrangements and a style which is a departure from the typical Feliciano output of the time. Produced by Jerry Wexler, who had been a great producer for Aretha Franklin in the 60's, this album contains several great songs. My favorites are "Love comes from unexpected places", "The hungry years", "Every woman" and the medley of Willie Nelson songs "Funny/Night Life".
A single was released using a song from this album ("Marguerita"). This is an elecric-rock piece and, in my view, not the album's best track. The record was not adequately promoted by the "Private Stock" record label. This was Jose's last collaboration with the label and his last album for many years.
