Tramp — Tramp 1969 (UK, Blues Rock)

Tramp was originally a one-off studio project formed in 1969 with the support of producer Peter Eden by two musicians—bassist Bob Brunning and pianist Bob Hall. By then, both were veterans of the British blues scene. Brunning was a member of the original lineup of the legendary Fleetwood Mac during the Peter Green era and also played in Savoy Brown. In this band, he met Bob Hall. The latter had played with many blues bands and appeared on around thirty albums. The decision was made to avoid focusing on cover versions and instead record their own original material. Dennis Cotton was brought in to assist Brunning and Hall, and as a result, almost all of the songs on the album were written by the three of them, strictly in a blues vein. All that remained was to find the performers. Bob Hall suggested hiring his friends, brother and sister Dave and Jo-Ann Kelly, as vocalists. Dave Kelly was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the John Dummer Band and also had a solo career, releasing two albums under his own name in 1969 and 1971. Jo-Ann Kelly, dubbed the "Queen of British Blues" by Melody Maker magazine, had performed in both her brother's musical projects and recorded solo. To circumvent contractual restrictions regarding their primary employment, they performed under the pseudonyms Little Brother Dave and Memphis Lil, respectively. Bob Brunning recruited the remaining musicians. For the recording of the album, he decided to enlist his Fleetwood Mac acquaintances, guitarist Peter Green and drummer Mick Fleetwood.01.
