Black Widow — Sacrifice 1970 (UK, Heavy Progressive Rock)
Black Widow formed in 1969 in Leicester, Leicestershire. They gained notoriety primarily for their satanic and occult imagery both on stage and in their music. The band's concerts were staged according to the rules of mystical shows, culminating in a staged naked female sacrifice. This fact alone was enough to get Black Widow covered in the press. Their debut LP, released through CBS, reached number 32 in the UK charts, with the track "Come To The Sabbat" being their most popular single. In 1970, the band performed at the Whitsun Festival in Plumpton and The Isle of Wight Festival.
