Blondie Chaplin — Blondie Chaplin 1977 (UK, Blues-Pop Rock)

Blondie Chaplin (Terence William "Blondie" Chaplin) was born in 1951 in Durban, South Africa. His family was musical – his father was an excellent banjo player, considered one of the best in South Africa. However, when Blondie received a guitar as a gift, his fate was sealed once and for all. Chaplin's first band was called The Kats, from which he joined The Flames. Despite their obvious success, the musicians had no desire to play in their home country – the whole band's cherished dream was to leave South Africa. Playing six days and nights a week at Durban's Al Fresco club, the musicians saved up enough money for boat tickets. Thus, the young band found itself in England; Blondie himself was 16 years old at the time. The Flames initially played in British clubs, living in small towns, and finding cheaper venues. Over time, the class of their concert venues increased slightly, and they even performed in the capital. One day, during a concert at a London club, Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys saw the South African musicians play. He was so impressed that he brought the band to Los Angeles, where they recorded for The Beach Boys on the Brother Records label. The Flames disbanded shortly afterward, in 1972, but Blondie remained with the Beach Boys. He remained with the band for three years, a role that arguably brought him his greatest fame. After leaving the band, Chaplin worked with various musicians—Dave Mason, Joe Walsh, Rick Danko, and other musicians and bands.
