According to a report from Ukraine's General Staff, Russian military forces faced around 1,390 casualties, both killed and injured, in just one day on June 23, 2026. This figure represents the worst single-day loss recorded since March 2025. Cumulatively, Russian personnel losses since February 2022 are estimated at about 1,394,530, based on data from the Ukrainian military. Throughout June, Russia has incurred losses exceeding 1,000 troops daily, a trend not observed since March 2025, which military analysts attribute to severe frontline attrition. NATO has provided independent estimates of total Russian casualties ranging from 1.3 to 1.45 million, including around 500,000 fatalities. Additionally, Ukrainian forces successfully targeted and destroyed a modernized Pantsir-S2 air defense system in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
