Controversial changes to the northern territory's child protection laws are expected to be passed by the parliament tonight despite repeated calls from aboriginal leaders and family legal services to halt the reforms. The government says the changes introduced in the wake the death of a five-year-old child in Alice Springs are designed to put children's safety above all else. But critics warn they risk repeating mistakes from the past.
